Frequently Asked Questions About My Name
Q: Does your name have an accent?
A: Yes and no. In Spanish, both my first and last names have an accent, so I stylize my byline as such: Jesús A. Rodríguez. But in day-to-day correspondence, such as email, I just use the name “Jesus.” You’re free to just use that!
Q: Where does the accent go?
A: Over the u and over the i. If you’re writing out my byline, please put the accent over both names and in the right places.
Q: How do you pronounce your name?
A: Technically, it’s neither “gee-sus” nor “hay-zoos.” Here’s the best way to say it.
Q: Why is this so important?
A: Read this piece from the BBC.
